Science 2.0-Survey
Description
The Science 2.0 Survey examines the part that social media and online-based applications play in science and provides empirical data on the prevalence of these applications among scientists at German universities and Leibniz institutions. The survey asks questions about the use of 17 different Web 2.0 tools and online applications, the reasons for their use or non-use, and scientists’ attitude towards the use of these tools in scholarly work. In addition, data on the type of university, discipline, academic status, and sociodemographic of the interviewees are collected. The survey builds on the study “Science-related use of Web 2.0 and online tools in Saxony 2012” conducted by the “eScience – Research Network Saxony” and was first conducted in September and October 2012 as an online survey. The survey was repeated in 2014.
